Jane Seymour
"Untitled 2"
digital photography
10" x 12"
True story that work is based on: Dr. Carl Von Cosel fell in love with his patient, Elena Hoyos, during the late 1930's in Key West Florida. Elena suffered from tuberculosis and Carl was unable to cure her illness. After Elena was buried, Carl stole her body from its grave. For seven years, Carl preserved and nurtured Elena's body by applying wax to her skin, wrapping her in piano wire and string, and surrounding her with flowers, perfume, and cloth. Until the day that Carl was caught by Elena's sister, the two shared a life and bed of eternal devotion. Elena was Carl's Sole Companion.
